“You Need Residency to Buy” — False

One of the most common misconceptions about buying in Georgia, explained clearly.

A foreign buyer generally does not need Georgian residency or citizenship to purchase a residential apartment or commercial property. The purchase and the right to reside in the country are separate legal questions.

Buying property does not automatically grant residency. Depending on the property value and current immigration rules, ownership may support a separate residency application, but approval is not automatic.

Treat ownership and immigration as two distinct processes. Confirm the property rules with a lawyer and, if residency matters to you, obtain current immigration advice before committing to a purchase.
